24-Hour Incidental is a program consisting of a series of simultaneous performances at the Swiss Institute – Contemporary Art.? From? noon to noon, the program intersects two days, seeking to carve out an irregular passage of time with its mix of activities and happenings. The selected artists? span several generations,? representing both the pioneering work of Fluxus and Happenings and a younger generation of artists? whose work borrows and builds on the traditions of conceptual art and performance of the 1970s.

For PERFORMA05, Tamy Ben-Tor will perform Exotica, the Rat and the Liberal.? Using various costumes and prosthetics Ben-Tor will change before the audience into three distinct characters.? Ben-Tor gives each character the chance to say what??™s on her mind, expressing the bias at the center of their points of view. Performed in the intimate setting or Salon94, Ben-Tor??™s provocative and at times funny performance exposes the racist undercurrents hidden within western liberalism.

Michael Smith: Selected Videos, 1980-2005 surveys over 25 years of Smith’s videos which initially emerged at a crossroad between 1970s performance art and 1980s late-night cable television. Starring himself as the inimitable “Mike”, Smith’s works are deadpan exposures of ???utterly bland realities and misguided materialism,’ that ape the claustrophobic, domestic world of the sit-com or sketch comedy show.

PAUL D. MILLER aka DJ Spooky That Subliminal Kid: Reset

In his new work, Reset, New York-based artist Paul D. Miller, aka DJ Spooky That Subliminal Kid, will re-construct Nam Jun Paik’s 1971 performance TV Cello. Originally a collaboration between Korean-born artist, Nam Jun Paik and cellist/performance artist Charlotte Moorman (1933-91), TV Cello was a playable instrument made of cello components and television sets, assembled in the form of a cello.

Artist Laurie Simmons will present her first live performance alongside Acts I & III of her film The Music of Regret, as part of PERFORMA05. Simmons??™s directorial debut The Music of Regret is a mini-musical in three acts, which examines the mundane challenges of modern living in three tales of disappointment and regret.
