Born in 1975 in Jerusalem, Israel, Tamy Ben-Tor is a graduate of The School of Visual Theatre, Jerusalem in 2001, and is currently enrolled in the M.F.A. program in Visual Art at Columbia University. With costumes, props, and makeup, Ben-Tor??™s performances confront political issues, cultural clich?©s, and racial stereotypes. Ben-Tor has performed at international festivals, including The International Puppet Festival, Charleville-M?©zi??res, France; the PIF 2000 Festival, Zagreb, Croatia; and the LUTKE festival, Ljubljana, Slovenia. Her video work has been shown internationally at NGBK/Bethanien Gallery in Berlin and most recently at P.S.1 Contemporary Art Center as part of Greater New York 2005.
