SUARA WELITOFF AND THALIA ZEDEK

Singer/songwriter Thalia Zedk and filmmaker/artist Suara Welitoff first collaborated at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston in 2005, where Welitoff’s ambient films served to complement Zedek’s music. Zedek’s Boston and New York-based rock heritage includes fronting The Dangerous Birds, Uzi, Live Skull, and Come. She released her first solo album in 2001, Been Here and Gone described as a compilation of ???tricky, bluesy, deep songs devoid of any folkie vibes, a rock-n’-roll album with viola, piano, and trumpet??? (Matador Records), followed by her second album Trust Not Those in Whom Without Some Touch of Madness (2004). In combination with Zedek’s music, Suara Welitoff’s filmmaking tendencies focus on small wonders and the amplified intimacy of minute details. Welitoff’s films were awarded the Maud Morgan Prize in 2002 at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, where she is now in their permanent collection.
