In 2000, Alexandro Segade (born 1973), Andy Ouchi (born 1974), Jade Gordon (born 1975), and Malik Gaines (born 1973) came together to form My Barbarian, a Los Angeles-based group producing high octane, exhibitionist music, performance, video and theatre. The eclectic group, which now includes Scott Martin (born 1976), frequently collaborates with other artists, filmmakers, musicians, and dancers; themselves trained in various disciplines. Dirty Talk Records released their first full-length album, Cloven-Soft Shoe, in June 2005. Earlier this year they performed Pagan Rights, a play showcasing California-inspired vignettes focusing on druidic discotheques to gay marines, at venues including the Power Plant, Toronto; Armand Hammer Museum, Los Angeles and PARTICIPANT INC., New York. Beyond the stage, My Barbarian creates and exhibits self-directed video works, including Unicorns L.A. from 2003 and Morgan Le Fay from 2004.
