MUNGO THOMSON

Mungo Thomson lives and works in Los Angeles. Working in multimedia, especially in video, Thomson mines the vernacular of American popular culture such as the desert scenery of Roadrunner cartoons, the audience applause on live recordings of rock concerts, or the design of car dealership balloons, Thomson’s whimsical works call attention to the often unnoticed details of contemporary life. He has had solo shows at Margo Leavin Gallery, Los Angeles; Postmasters Gallery, and Steffany Martz Gallery, both in New York. His recent group exhibitions include Temple Bar Gallery, Dublin; Leslie Cohan and Browne, Art In General, Greene Naftali Gallery, and Threadwaxing Space, all in New York; Long Beach University Art Museum, California; Luckman Fine Arts Gallery, Los Angeles; TENT. CBK, Rotterdam; Chicago Project Room, Los Angeles; and the CCAC Institute, San Francisco.
