Born in 1960 in Wales, U.K., Millree Hughes lives and works in New York. Hughes digital painting and performance work focuses on interaction with new media, and uses performance in order to bring a physicality to work that is made solely on the computer. His Abstractor III shown the Beall Centre, California in 2003, was an interactive animated painting in which the visitor could alter the projected digital work from a laptop installed in front of a vivid, distorted landscape. His solo shows have included Michael Steinberg Fine Arts, and Patrick Gallery, both New York; and Marella Arte Contemporanea, Milan. He has also been included in many group shows in the U.S.
