New York-based artist Michael Smith (born 1951) has had a prolific career spanning over two decades, making video, performance and photography. His videos and performances are deadpan, comedic exposures of the utterly bland realities and misguided materialism of daily life. Through his work he has created ???Mike??™ the hollow, expressionless character, who Smith has tackling to-do lists or his laundry. Smith??™s work has been broadcast widely and he has been exhibited internationally in group and solo shows. He has performed live internationally and shown in festivals such as the Henson International Puppet Festival (1992, 1994, and 1996).
