LUCY RAVEN

Born in 1977 in Arizona and graduating from the University of Arizona in 2000, Brooklyn-based artist Lucy Raven is a painter, filmmaker and sound artist, editor of BOMB magazine, co-founder and co-editor of The Relay Project, a Brooklyn-based magazine published as an audio CD. Her recent stop motion animations, including When the Ceiling has Become Visible (in No Apology for Breathing at Jack the Pelican Presents), explore the landscape and ethos of the dustbowl era and take inspiration from photographer Walker Evans among other sources. Raven has recently shown at Lehman Maupin, Soil Gallery, and Jack the Pelican Presents in New York. She is currently a resident artist at the Center for Land Use and Interpretation in Utah.
