JULIANA SNAPPER

Vocal artist Juliana Snapper creates and interprets experimental opera. Recent collaborations play with overlapping motifs of virtuosity and monstrousness, and combine elastic vocalism with electronic processing, video and live performance. She has performed and recorded with opera companies, new music ensembles and punk bands in the U.S. and in Europe, and her work has been recognized by the Metropolitan Opera Council and journals such as Holland??ôs KindaMuzik, Salon magazine, Los Angeles Weekly, and The New York Times. Snapper recently premiered new works by Sean Griffin and Catherine Sullivan in the 2002 Armand Hammer Museum??ôs new music series in Los Angeles, and performed the U.S. premiere of Philippe Manoury’s En Echo at the Sounds French Festival in New York in March 2005. Snapper studied at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, and the University of California, San Diego.
