Boston-born (1966) and New York-based, John Tremblay??™s abstract paintings, firmly inscribed in the Pop/Op tradition, bring the history of modern abstraction into dialogue with more recent developments in contemporary culture. His paintings allude to graphic design, urban planning, technological warfare, film and other aspects of consumer culture – inspired by missiles and airplane holding patterns his energetic paintings radiate movement, exploding from the inside out. Tremblay has exhibited widely, including solo shows at Paula Cooper Gallery and Sandra Gering Gallery, both in New York; Richard Telles Fine Art, Los Angeles; and Galerie Jousse Seguin, Paris; and in group shows including P.S.1, John Conelly Presents, and Team Gallery, both New York; Galerie Van Gelder, Amsterdam; and other European galleries in Bern, Berlin, Lausanne, Genoble, Turin and France. Tremblay has work in public collections: Fogg Art Museum, Harvard; Cabinet des Estampes, Geneva, Switzerland; Neuchatel, Switzerland; Frac, Angouleme, France; and Collection Fonds national d??™art contemporain.
