Discoteca Flaming Star is a Berlin-based performance project masquerading as a rock band, in their own words producing ???hardcore karaoke??™, that follows the underground tradition from Andy Warhol??™s ???Factory??™ to Jack Smiths??™ ???Superstars??™. Comprised of Spanish Cristina Gomez Barrio & German Wolfgang Mayer, the duo employ the amateurish vitality and imperfection of punk aesthetics. In their use of early eighties disco songs, their focus shifts from the vocal to the pure elements of punk sounds. They assemble make-shift bands wherever they tour, leading to rehearsal times of as little as a few hours. They have performed internationally in the US and Europe and in 2004 they presented ???sexy bloody cat (i hope everything you love dies in your arms)??™, songs about love, consumption, fervor and feminism, at the Galerie Wieland, Berlin.
