Carey Young (born 1970, US/UK citizen) graduated from the Royal College of Art, London with a Masters in Photography in 1997. Using a variety of media including text, performance and video, her work has become increasingly recognised for its investigation of the growing incorporation of the personal and public domains into the commercial realm, with a number of her recent works exploring legal language and systems of control. She has exhibited widely, most notably in shows such as Beck’s Futures (ICA, London, 2003), A Short History of Performance, Part II (Whitechapel Gallery, London, 2003), Trade Show (Mass MOCA, North Adam, 2005) and The British Art Show 6, (BALTIC, Newcastle & tour, 2005-2006.) Her works are held in the public collections of the Arts Council England and the Centre Pompidou. She lives and works in London and is represented by IBID Projects, London/Vilnius.
